Land Acknowledgement & A Brief Hello
Hello, and welcome to SOLA’s self paced courses. Here, we empathize being in the present, and honour that each pace may differ for each person. We acknowledge the beautiful land that we work, play, and live on, has never been ceded. By the sto:lo peoples, and noting the territories of Leq’a:mel, Sem:ath (Matsqui), Kwantlen, Sqwelets, Mathxwi, and the Katsi first nations. This course in particular was written on this land, and without the inspiring and humbling nature of spirit, none of this would be possible. [1]

Chapter 1
I’d like to introduce you to a short story. “I need to clear my head”, said the earth angel,""for my human life has become too taxing, overwhelming.” This angelic being, from a higher realm, but on an earthly plane said,” I know, I have everything I need. I’m ready to hear you, great creator, and guide and be a vessel for your truth, show me what I need to know” and in hopes to clear the static the being went for a walk. Mentally releasing the patterns of the day, but the feeling of harmony felt elusive. So, the earth angel kept walking to find harmony, and other communities who would connect, telepathically just as they would from their homeland. As they walked, they could see all the contradictions the humans live with, and see how even their quotes on the mind tell them to split their beautiful identity. So, the angel asked the creator to show them in action what their purpose was. First she found nothing, in fact it looked as if the roads, the pathways had been swept clean. What a terrible joke, but the angel knew that there was genuine love in this world and to keep going. She then crossed a store, and in there she asked for 3 pieces of chicken tenders, and a hot tea. The tender was helpful and she carried on. Then she saw a bird. She knew she couldn't take it home with her to give the late bird a proper burial, however, she could offer prayers and a ceremony to bring the bird back into the spirit world. She kneeled beside the bird, and said my name is Mirsoux. She explained to the bird that her name means bringer of the light. In her quietest voice she sang a song of deep respect and honour. She expressed gratitude for all the life this bird shared with the world. She thanked the bird for sharing. When she arrived back at her home, she saw her new food order. The chicken tenders that there were 6 instead of 3. She smiled with glee and excitement, as this was her first meal of the day and last, and certainly she would be full for the day. In gratitude, we receive. This earth and universe has so much to offer, rest well but keep your heart open. How we do that is through regulation. We see that you simply do not know everything by the mind. As the Mandukya Upanishad says, “Nantah-Prajnam, nobhayatah-prajnam, na prajnana-ghanam, na prajnam, naprajnam.” “Not inside knowledge, not outside knowledge, not knowledge itself, not ignorance” [2]

Chapter 2
Here we learn about: YS 49 Srutanumana Prajnabhyam anya visaya visesarthatvat “The special truth is totally different from knowledge gained by hearing, study or interference” [3] Definitions: RITAMBHARA PRAJNA is the infinite ocean of consciousness. The ritambhara prajna signifies the faculty of mind which gives rise to knowing but this knowledge is of a special kind. It is intuitive in nature. ‘RITAM’ means truth and ‘BHARA’ means ‘full of’. The aspirations which are “full of Truth” are called RITAMBHARA. [4] When you have achieved Ritambhara Prajna you understand everything without studying. When you transcend the mind through proper concentration, you feel the cosmic force or God. You can check your experience with scripts or sages but it is known through your own experience [5] Prajna is not achieved through logic, or the analytical mind (manas). As Panajali shares, this is splitting reality and creating illusions.YS 1.49 For our truth to arise, the mind must be clear of all of (Vrittis). To connect a metaphor would be to have a clean inner mirror. YS1.47 That was cleaned with a natural cleaner. No streaks, just shines. Mirsoux explicitly goes for a walk to "clear the static" and release the "patterns of the day." When she looks for answers initially, she finds "nothing" and sees the pathways "swept clean." In yoga, this emptiness or stillness of the mind is the exact canvas required for higher truth to land. Rta is the cosmic order of the universe, aligning with it brings in direct harmony and unmediated understanding. Instead of forcing a mental solution to her problems, Mirsoux aligns with cosmic order through an act of pure, unselfish reverence offering a death ceremony for a fallen bird. She connects directly to the "spirit world" (the higher realm of truth) without needing intellectual justification. YS 1.48 When Rtambhara Prajna is active, there is no lack. The practitioner is absolutely certain and is supported by truth Mirsoux asks the creator to show her purpose in action. By regulating her energy and offering love to the bird, she aligns with the universe. The immediate manifestation of this alignment is the 6 chicken tenders instead of 3.YS 2.37 The universe mirrors her generosity, proving the truth of her closing realization: "In gratitude, we receive... How we do that is through regulation." In short, the story is a modern parable of a soul moving away from the "taxing" human intellect and shifting into Ṛtambharā Prajñā where open-hearted regulation reveals the absolute truth of universal abundance to some this may look like a walk, and to others this is exactly what finding your purpose really looks like. This last sutra, and wrapping sentiment of the story shows us what dictates when a practitioner is fully established in non-stealing and pure selflessness, all precious jewels and abundance naturally present themselves. Mirsoux's act of selflessly giving a prayer to the bird without wanting anything in return structurally aligns her with this law, which the universe immediately mirrors by doubling her food order.

[1, 2, 3] Alternate Practice: The Bija Mantra "OM" (Pranavah) If you prefer a simpler focus, Patanjali himself recommends chanting the sacred sound OM (Pranavah) Yoga Sutra 1.50 to clear obstacles. Chanting a single syllable Chant OM aloud to ground your physical awareness. Sit with a straight spine, breathe in and out. Notice your breath. When noticing your breath hold back from visualizing, do not attempt to change. Notice your sensation as the breath goes in and out, and without change. Observe. Without changing your breath on your next exhale, introduce an AUM sound. Exhale, do not change. Observe. Notice the quality of your breath on your upper lip. Is it warm or cold? Does your lip quiver/shake or is it firm? What sensations do you feel? Practice for 15 minutes or 108 repetitions.
